Our legacy
Heritage that dates back to 1980
Our heritage as a tequila producer dates back to 1980. Today it is distinguished by an authentic flavour and a unique quality that comes from cultivating the finest agaves of the Jalisco area.
Tequila is best known as being the birthplace of the drink that bears its name. It is an official Pueblo Mágico, and it is where our distillery stands.
We have put great care into preserving these invaluable resources by practising sustainable farming and growing quality agave with a long-term approach. Our commitment is to preserve the ecology of the Jalisco region.

Knowledge, not lineage
We are not defined purely by a surname. We have deep knowledge learned from decades in the production and commercialisation of tequila, and more than three generations enjoying it.

Sapiens is for someone who knows how to appreciate and is open to discovering new sensations. It is not for everyone. It is for the progressive who wish to evolve.

The name
From the Latin sapiens: wise.
The name Sapiens comes from the Latin word for sabio — wise. It is the promise on the label and the standard behind it: Bebida de Sabios.
Every bottle carries the number of its batch, the signature of the Master Tequilero, the seal of the estate and the mountain of the volcano whose water we draw. Nothing on the label is decoration.

The illustration
An evolution hiding in plain sight

The jima
The first figure cuts the leaves from the agave — the oldest gesture in the trade, and still done by hand.
The piña
The second holds the heart of the plant. Five years of sun and volcanic soil, condensed into one weight you can carry.
The bats
Above them fly the bats that pollinate the agave. They are on every label because our growers keep their farms friendly to them.

Enrique Legorreta
Guided by Master Tequilero Enrique Legorreta, a member of a renowned tequila-producing family, we honour tradition while embracing innovation to redefine excellence in every bottle.
He signs the label of every expression. The blend, the cooking times, the cut of the distillation and the decision to add nothing at all are his.
